Constellation Quiz

These exercises are designed to give you practice in identifying stars and constellations. In the exercises, you will be asked to point out a constellation or star. Then, by clicking on the sky map where you think the constellation or star is, you will get the name of the constellation and a picture of it.

The picture below shows what the night sky looks like about 8PM on a January evening. The picture covers an angle of about 90o on the sky, facing south at middle, northern latitudes (about 40 degrees). To give you a sense of scale, Your spread hand at arms length would cover about one quarter the distance across the image.
