- A High-Resolution Image of Atomic Hydrogen
in the M81 Group of Galaxies, (Yun, M.S., Ho, P.T.P., & Lo, K.Y.
1994, Nature, 372, 530)
Interacting galaxies M81, M82, and NGC 3077 (located 10 million light years
away) in optical light (left) and in 21cm HI (center). Optically invisible,
the atomic hydrogen gas threads all three galaxies forming tidal bridges.
The numerical simulation (right) demonstrates that all the HI filaments seen here are the results of tidal interaction among all three galaxies.
- The HI image is now available in fits format here. Please reference my 1994 Nature paper above as the main reference. Note that the map unit in the header is wrong -- it should be "Jy m/sec/beam".

A new paper reporting the combined GBT + 25 field VLA mosaic is in the
works now (Yun et al., in prep).
